Joseph P. Nadeau, D.M.A. (he, him, his)
Joe has been an active choral conductor and teacher for three decades. He is regularly sought after as guest speaker, presenter, clinician, and conductor for regional, state, and national conferences and music festivals. He has taught at every educational level from pre-K through college and is currently teaching music in the Shawnee Mission School District in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
Joe has served as Artistic Director and Conductor for Heartland Men’s Chorus, Kansas City Women’s Chorus, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. He currently serves as Artistic Director for Fountain City Performing Arts KC which includes the Kansas City area justice choir, OUTside Voices KC. One of Joe’s greatest passions is the LGBTQIA+ choral and justice choir movements and currently serves on the GALA Choruses Board of directors.
During his career, Joe has conducted choruses in notable venues across the United States including the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Meyerson Symphony Hall, and Kauffmann Center for Performing Arts. Joe has led choruses in national and international tours, performances at GALA Choruses, American Choral Director’s Association and Chorus America festivals and conferences, produced several professional recordings, and collaborated with multiple choirs, arts organizations, and guest artists.
Joe has an undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Maine, a master’s degree from the UMKC Conservatory of Music and a doctoral degree from the University of Kansas in choral conducting. He is currently pursuing a graduate Certificate in Non Profit Management from the University of Kansas.
